One More Block Away (From Knowing One Way or the Other)

One More Block Away (From Knowing One Way or the Other)

Our lips are dry from tired out talk our eyes are rarely meeting

I feel like getting small and crawling right into the gutter

The map was changed along the way, we don’t know where it’s leading

One more block away from knowing one way or the other

The road trip was a rousing ride, the world so full of vigor

Until the gas ran out and in the dead of night we shuddered

I pushed the car and sparred with snow like some demented figure

One more block away from knowing one way or the other

We’re roaming by the roadside now, the ditch an endless chasm

Scouring for an absent piece that may not be recovered

With every stride our hope subsides, the truth is hard to fathom

One more block away from knowing one way or the other
